Van Mildert College Boat Club

Van Mildert Boat Club (VMBC) was established in 1965, and for nearly 60 years we’ve prided ourselves on being an inclusive and competitive club, rowing on the River Wear and racing across the country.

“We didn’t start the fire” – Billy Joel. Tragically our boat house burned down Christmas 2021! However we are committed to give our members the best possible college rowing experience despite this setback. Our temporary home is the amateur rowing club (DARC) where we can run training as normal with access to all the boat categories an erg/weights room and a bar. We have historic success at all levels of racing with the highlight from last year being our novices winning novice cup.
