Butler College Boat Club

Butler College Boat Club is one the most active sports societies within our college. We welcome all members, with most learning to row with us at university. We are based beneath the SU, primarily rowing 4s and 8s, with the opportunity for people to boat as much or as little as they want, be it multiple times a week for our top race crews or just for the occasional paddle; college rowing at BCBC is very much what you decide to make of it.
When we aren’t bashing up and down the scenic River Wear, we also attend land training sessions, primarily on the rowing machine (surprise surprise).
In the last year, our crews have competed in London, Newcastle, The Lake District and York, in both head races and regattas. For those who might not want to travel, we also attend plenty of events in Durham itself!
And for those who want to be out on the water, but don’t want to row, we are always in need of coxes to steer our boats and co-ordinate our crews when out on the water, and can train people up from scratch.
If that wasn’t enough, BCBC offers a range of socials throughout the year, including a wedding and the famous BCBC ball at the end of the year- we offer plenty for people to get stuck in with.
