Senate Boat Club
Senate Boat Club

Senate Boat Club is a high-performance squad that unites ambitious rowers from colleges to provide extra training and racing opportunities alongside college rowing. The ultimate goal is to develop competitive crews capable of competing at national-level events such as BUCS and Henley Women’s Regatta. For racing, we aim to gather athletes from college rowing to form a crew of top college athletes.
This club is full of people with a range of experience; college rowers wanting more training and coaching, some ex-DUBC devs, and high-performance juniors looking for something more from college rowing.
We work closely with the DCR and borrow much of their equipment which allows us to train on the Wear and in Stockton, something we are very grateful for.

Last season we had a M4+ race at BUCS head and BUCS regatta with a W8+ race at these events too, competing against strong University programmes. Additionally, we sent a W8+ to HWR and were just 1.1s from qualifying.

We offer weekly erg and S&C sessions to build on training offered by colleges. In the lead-up to races, we provide coached water sessions on the Wear and in Stockton to ensure that our crews are up to speed.
Whilst the main aim of Senate is to offer extra training and racing opportunities for college athletes, we also provide a close-knit community uniting athletes from a range of colleges and strike a balance of tough training with good fun!
