South College Boat Club

South College boat club is the newest club on the wear, being established in 2020. Regardless of this we are active on the water and socially – providing recreational and competitive opportunities for all levels of rowing.

Every year since creation the club has grown, developing squads and training programs suitable for both beginners and experienced rowers. In 2024 we attended every head race and regatta made available by the DCR, along with a few extra – giving our squads the maximum amount of racing opportunity.

Thanks to the dedication and momentum of the clubs members the performance of our crews at these races has been impeccable. We have had wins at both internal races such as Novice cup and Durham city regatta. As well as competitive performances at the Head of the river races in London and medaled at regattas all across the north east.

After being in existence for only 4 years, SCBC still managed to rank competitively against the other college boat clubs, along with carrying out fundraising for equipment and organising frequent socials – we pride ourselves on being a competitive club but more importantly an active and friendly one.
