Hatfield College
Hatfield College Boat Club

HCBC, established in 1846, is the second oldest boat club in Durham. You’ll recognise us by our royal blue boats and blue blades with a white lion emblem.
Situated on the River Wear near Kingsgate and Elvet Bridges, HCBC is renowned for its competitive spirit and distinguished history. We welcome rowers and coxes of all experience levels and pride ourselves on our impressive competitive record in both novice and intermediate categories. Whether you’ve spent years in a boat or have never been in one before, you’ll find that HCBC allows you to quickly see yourself racing at a competitive level.
In 2024, HCBC took two men’s crews to HoRR and a women’s crew to WEHoRR. Recently, the club won the intermediate women’s 8+ and maiden novice 4+ categories at the Durham Regatta, and the women’s 8+ triumphed in their division at the Hexham Regatta. At Admirals Regatta, we didn’t just win all five categories we entered; we did it in style, showcasing our creativity in an array of costumes.
With regular training and socials, you’ll find it easy to meet new people and build long-lasting friendships. We encourage anyone from Hatfield to try rowing and contact us over social media or at the Freshers Sports and Societies Fair.
